Hycosan Plus 7.5ml

HYCOSAN PLUS 7.5ml - preservative free eye drops containing 0.1% Sodium Hyaluronate and 2% dexpanthenol for the treatment of damage to the cornea due to severe dry eye, recurrent erosion and post laser/lasik conditions. Our patented delivery system ensures 225 equal drops are dispensed from each bottle and keeps the product sterile for 6 months from opening. Suitable for use with all contact lenses.

How should HYCOSAN® PLUS be applied? Please read the information leaflet provided with the eye drops.
Priming the system:
To prime the system remove the over cap (see Picture 1) and invert the HYCOSAN® DUAL bottle with its tip pointing down.
Place two fingers on the base and your thumb on the shoulder of the bottle (see Picture 2) and press firmly on the base and release. Repeat this several times until the first drop is released. The bottle is now primed.
General use:
Remove the over-cap and invert the HYCOSAN® DUAL bottle with its tip pointing down. Support the hand holding the bottle with the other hand (see Picture 3).
Hold the bottle as previously shown (see Picture 4). With your head leaning back slightly, pull down your lower eyelid. Press the base of the bottle. This enables the bottle to release one drop into the conjunctival sac. Release and repeat for the other eye. After each application slowly close your eye to allow the fluid to spread evenly over the eye surface.
The design of the COMOD® valve system ensures that the size and speed of each drop are the same regardless of the pressure applied to the base of the bottle.
During use please avoid any contact between the tip of the bottle and your eye or your skin.
Before replacing the over-cap please ensure that the tip is dry (see Picture 5).

1 ml HYCOSAN® PLUS contains 1 mg sodium hyaluronate, dexpanthenol, citric acid anhydrous, sodium citrate and water for injections.

When should HYCOSAN® PLUS be used?
For regeneration and maintenance of healthy eyes the ocular surface - cornea and conjunctiva - has to be continuously wet. Ideally this is provided by our tears. However, some people have poor quality tear film or an insufficient volume of tears. When these factors are present, the surface of the eye can become tired, red, itchy, sore and you may experience foreign body or burning sensation. These symptoms of an inadequate supply of physiological tears may occur in dry or air- conditioned environment, as well as a result of a medical treatment or due to age.
The epithelial cells of the cornea and conjunctiva continuously regenerate and this happens most effectively when the surface of the eye is well lubricated. Therefore it is also important that after surgical procedures the ocular surface is sufficiently lubricated so that the wound heals quickly and effectively.
In all of the above cases it is important to apply sufficient lubrication to the eye by applying HYCOSAN® PLUS in order to renew the physiologic balance of lubrication and moisturisation of the eye.
HYCOSAN® PLUS contains the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid which is a physiologic substance of the eye but also of other parts of the body. Sodium hyaluronate has the special property to form an even and long lasting lubrificating film on the surface of the eye without being rinsed away quickly. With it the moisturising effect is prolonged without impairing vision. Therefore HYCOSAN® PLUS can be used during the day when eye ointments should not be used because of their thick viscosity which causes blurred vision.
Additionally HYCOSAN® PLUS contains dexpanthenol which belongs to the group of B vitamins. Dexpanthenol provides the eyes surface with an effective environment that supports healing, and the lubricating properties of sodium hyaluronate provide additional support. Consequently small superficial erosions of the ocular surface caused by an insufficient tear film heal faster as well as wounds which are the inevitable result of a surgical procedure.
HYCOSAN® PLUS ensures not only a sufficient supply of lubrication to the eye but at the same time provides an improved regeneration of corneal and conjunctival epithelia.
